This 3D laser pile volume measurement system consists of a ContourXLRIC handheld rangefinder and a palmtop computer. When the distance measuring button is pressed by hand, the distance and magnetic azimuth data are transmitted to the PDA via Bluetooth. The software instrument on the PDA can continuously record the 3D coordinates of the measuring points, create 3D graphics in real time, and calculate the volume of the pile in real time, and the measurement data can be downloaded to the computer and post-processed by professional software to generate more detailed area, volume, reports and 3D graphics. Because the instrument is light and convenient, single handheld operation, rough aiming while key measurement, the instrument is waterproof and dustproof, suitable for use in harsh environments, but because this instrument uses an electronic compass to measure horizontal and vertical angles, so it can only be applied in an environment without magnetic interference (magnetite or strong electromagnetic environment can not use the instrument); in addition, the instrument's angle measurement accuracy is 0.5° (0.5° angle measurement error (0.87m at 100m), so it is only suitable for measuring the volume of coal pile in short distance. The farther the distance, the greater the error. The equipment can be used in the mineral industry, logistics industry, power industry, water conservancy and soil conservation field coal pile, ore and other small piles of material volume measurement, due to the constraints of the hardware parameters, this instrument is not suitable for large pile volume measurement, for large piles of materials measured twice will find a large volume error.
